New Release : HOLZ
Release Date : 25. May 2009
Format : Album

We are excited to present Holger Zilske's debut Playhouse album, Holz.
A leading proponent in the ascendancy of Berlin label BPitch Control and the greater electronic landscape, Holger
cultivated his reputation as techno visionary under the moniker Smash TV with over 8 years and nearly 30 releases to
his name.
Now releasing under his birth name, Holger's distinct blend of complex arrangements and gargantuan bass lines has
been refined incrementally over six successful single releases in the last two years. With ten new productions laden
with bubbling textures, sweat fueled percussion and tropical artwork, Holz navigates us into summer with moist palms
and deep, deep eyes.
'Lichterfelde' transforms visions of a remote borough of Berlin into an ecstatic wilderness, populated by looming
insectoid tones and gusts of humid pad textures. Punctuated by stabbed Eastern melodies, bouncing bass drops and
ritual drum patterns, the opener sets the climate perfectly. 'Mes Yeux' pulses amidst decompressing pads and rever-
berant mechanical samples in a deep house descent, while the hazy granulated beginnings of 'Roter Rausch' swarm
around steadily enveloping synth and bass progressions in an intoxicating techno mirage.
Deep and penetrating synth tones define 'Druckraum' (Press Room), which probes meticulously with lazy clicked
percussion and the distant chatter of reverberant beats. Continuing with the vocational theme, 'Work' commands your
obedience with mesmerizing melodic passages and dystopian metallic percussive accents. Major melodic pads offer
hope of release, however the cutting industrial beats withstand resistance to end the track unchallenged. 'Golden'
builds a lazy pop lullaby with decaying samples, trickled percussion and the dulcet vocal contributions of Swedish
artist August Landelius. Contemplative and profound, Holger's production paints a melancholy landscape of promise
and bittersweet reflection.
Back to the floor. 'Metrodancer' builds a formidable house strut with poked bass and melodic punches of 8
bit synth. In a similar vein, 'Olho Gordo' plunges into dark waters with ghostly pads, dry percussive tones and
enveloping beats to test your after hour stamina. Under the pseudonym 'One Chef' August Landelius returns to
team up with Holger on 'Have a Cup of this', which disorients with clattering percussion and certifiably dizzy synth
lines that dance around plunging bass tones and ringing symbol rotations.
Counting to close with resonant clocked percussion, August reintroduces his intimate vocal reflections in another
downbeat pop arrangement. At times both haunting and hopeful, fret with lingering dark and sobering light, 'To
Them To Me' provides the perfect soundtrack to the end of an evening, and appropriate end to an album that
signals a new dawn for Holger Zilske.

Holger Zilske: MES YEUX 12"
Release-Date Vinly: 13.04.2009
A Mes Yeux :: B Metrodancer

Always a pleasure when you got euphoric DJ-Feedbacks. But if you have a record, which appears two months ahead of the release - before the whole promo even had started and even before you had decided which track should be on the flipside - in so many DJ-Charts that it's alreay in the top 20 of the Groove Magazine (one of germany's leading mags for electronic music), then you're allowed to be a little bit confused.
But if you listen to the track, we're talking about, HOLGER ZILSKE's "MES YEUX", of course it does make sense. Because what ZILKE had delivered here as the forthcoming single to his fantastic new album HOLZ (Play CD 025, out on 05.25.2009) is nothing less than an obvious hit-record.
It begins like a melancholy-dub, but raises within minutes into such a deep-psychedelic disco-epos, that you can't stop yourself from asking: "When the hell was last time a track was taking me on a trip like this?" MES YEUX is the kind of clubtrack that puts a bright smile on the face of those lucky ones who already know the tune while the others immediately start to rush to the DJ booth to ask where the f**k they can get this record.

ÂDonÂt sweat  The one being able to follow that harsh command must
either suffer from a metabolic disorder or is always good to mommy
and goes to bed as soon as the news show on TV is over.
But the one who stays up and pushes his stereo to its limit or wallows
in the crowd on the dance floor canÂt but wince and twitch with all
available bodily parts. Everyone gets jealous and curious, no matter
if itÂs the peeking neighbor from across the street or the rave dudes
in front of the DJ console  who the f... is the initiator of this
liberating dance performance of yours?
Smash TV got his old 303 out of his basement in order to take off
and land on the ground again to party all over in an acid style.
ItÂs like a happy and airy twister that whirls you closely twined
through the air and, back on earth, stomps in muddy boots across the
fields with you. DonÂt sweat? No way!
