Release: Lauer on Lumière Noire compilation

Release: Lauer on Lumière Noire compilation
16.10.2018

Lauer's Pythor is now streamable exclusively on Les Yeux Orange! Klick HERE for stream and pre-order.

"Lumière Noire isn’t much more than a year old, but the quality of the goods it’s been putting out suggests a musical edge far beyond its age, thanks to the impeccable ear of label boss and Parisian electronic voyager Chloé. ‘From Above’ celebrates the story so far, with Lumière Noire stalwarts and fresh blood contributing 13 new tracks. There’s a loose leaning towards electro (in the widest sense), but the label’s vibe is pleasingly difficult to pin down – yet the tracks here work together in harmony, despite covering a lot of different ground. At heart, it’s a superb selection of underground sounds. Many of the names will be new to most, but that’s part of the beauty; there are no expectations after reading the tracklist. Things start off deep and downtempo, with atmospheric sounds from Markus Gibb, before melting into lo-fi synth-pop from Ben Shemie (of art-rock outfit Suuns), making way for the brooding, glitchy weirdness of Dutch producer Drvg Cvltvre. Then there’s Sutja Gutierrez’s hypnotic, Depeche Mode-referencing ‘Allodoxaphobia’, a deliciously acid-infused ’80s trip from Lauer, tribal techno from Aergeworc and Franck Agrario, playful electro from Bajram Bili… And much more. A seriously strong label comp that leaves you hungry for more."

Lawrence: As impactful on the mind as it is on the dancefloor.
09.10.2018

The term “ambient techno” implies a balanced blend of genres: cloudy atmospheres of ambient with the percussive grit of techno. But more often than not the latter half of the term feels secondary; rarely do you hear ambient techno albums that are as suitable for club play as they are for sedentary, “post-rave” listening. Xlr8r Podcast 562: Ata
04.10.2018

Athanasios Christos Kontogiannis Macias (a.k.a Ata) is a man of many hats—club owner, bar owner, label manager, chef, and DJ among them. It is in the capacity as the former and latter of these endeavors that he's most widely acknowledged: Robert Johnson, the club he co-founded alongside Sebastian Kahrs, sits among the finest party venues in the world; while his skills at guiding the crowds with his eclectic selections have made him a favorite among those who've dug deep enough to discover his work. He spends the rest of his time designing T-shirts, cooking at Frankfurt's Club Michel, or serving drinks in his bar, AMP. "I don't know any good DJ who doesn't have his personal style regarding fashion, art, and cuisine," he says.

Release: Lauer LP 'Power' on Running Back

Release: Lauer LP 'Power' on Running Back
30.09.2018

„Lauer always rhymes with “Power”. Proven by countless remixes, productions and projects like Arto Mwambe, Black Spuma, Talamanca System or Tuff City Kids and – naturally – his own-brand. There aren't many dance floors left that haven't been blessed by all this glory.
Now, the aptly titled third album of Frankfurt's prime export regarding all things melodic, teenaged and synthesized, intensifies, condenses and hones the sound, he has been developing for years: a topical take on classic dance and 80ies pop figures, disco music in a closet (Lauer is still in denial), singing arpeggios, android choirs, beautiful bass lines and sometimes the apparitional architecture of house music.
Neatly placed on one piece of vinyl, “Power” collects nine tracks resp. songs that follow these roads. Expertly produced, recorded on high-end tape and complemented with intricate songwriting, Running Back is proud to present his magnum opus.
“Power” is vintage Lauer. Like his attic – Pyramide Studio 2 for those who know – where a vast synthesizer collection from the days of yore and tomorrow meets other digital dinosaurs and analog Aphrodites, it showcases a sanguine, punky and vivid DIY-aesthetic that isn't too far from a garage band turned into a one-man-orchestra.
Glazed with two songs featuring the vocal talents of Jasnau (Mirrors and the Poeponymous Power) Power), that sentiment is consolidated. Music to dance to and to romance to.“

Release: Roman Flügel LP on ESP Institute

Release: Roman Flügel LP on ESP Institute
30.09.2018

"Roman Flügel needs no introduction, so lets not hammer on about his lengthy history as a kingpin of contemporary German dance music, his essential contributions to the musical evolution of Darmstadt and Frankfurt, his achievements as a virtuosic multi-instrumentalist traversing genres with remarkable grace, his sense of dynamism and urgency in the construction of big-room anthems or the meticulously woven textures of melancholy found throughout his minimalist work, his ability to pay homage to pioneers of his musical heritage without diverting to pastiche, his fearless combination of familiar melody with synthesized aberration and imperfection, his approach to instrumentation as Haiku poetry where the ordinary is made profound through simple isolation, his rejection of stylistic pretense and acceptance of comforts found in the constructs of folk and pop, his contrast of cold efficiency with a warm naiveté, his yearning to return down previously-forged paths with a new accumulation of experience, the confidence to paint the room blue when it was meant to be black, his belief that a beautifully executed idea will always transcend the need for incessant polishing, the way in which he leads arrangements to the edge and only implies a resolve, his framing of musical narratives as sketches, outlines, or skeletons where the listener’s perception compliments the whole, or his notion that sometimes stories might not need a clear articulation but might only come through in hints of mood, pace, and color, a language which doesn’t rely on words to communicate but which paints for us in Themes. Yes, rather than hearing our attempt to elaborate on Roman’s Flügel’s debut album with the ESP Institute, lets just simply listen."

The album will be released by ESP Institute on October 26th. Find the snippets via Soundcloud.

On this EP we fall in their psychedelic madness, mixing hypnotic sounds, voices and Saxo, in a very punkish way, to come back to our bestial primitive instincts, when we were still close from animals. Prelisten HERE.

Denk ich an Deutschland in der Nacht documentary featuring Ata Macias, Roman Flügel, Move D and more
23.09.2018

Stream via Arte TV 20/09/2018 to 27/09/2018. WATCH
